Meet our Founder and CEO

Robinette D. Cross

Robinette D. Cross is a native of Richmond Virginia. She attended Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated magna cum laude, with Departmental Honors, and earned a Bachelors of Arts in History with a Concentration in Africa. While at Spelman, Robinette benefitted from three study abroad opportunities, studying in Morocco, London, and South Africa.

Directly following her undergraduate experience, Robinette returned to Morocco as a Fulbright scholar. She continued her studies in Arabic and Moroccan culture while she researched “The Intersection between Islam and Women’s Dress in Morocco”. A grateful participant in the State Department’s Islamic Initiative, Robinette benefitted from more than a year of intensive study in Moroccan and Modern Standard Arabic and also tutored Moroccan women and girls in English. Having successfully completed her Fulbright year, Robinette went on to pursue her graduate studies in African History at New York University.

Currently, Robinette is an instructor in the Social Studies department at the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies in Richmond, where she teaches Global Studies to first and second year students and the history of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) to seniors. She takes those students on an experiential learning trip to Morocco in the Spring each year.

Robinette is a dedicated servant of God and is committed to living a Kingdom lifestyle. As a result of her commitment to discipleship and service to God’s people, she will be ordained at her home church, The Leviticus Church, in April of this year.

A member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Robinette also serves on several committees that are rooted in community service and education. She is committed to the instruction, education, and upliftment of all mankind and, as global citizens, making sure that all who wish to have access possess the fundamentals needed to be successful in academics and cross-cultural understanding. Her commitment to excellence and community impact is what led to the founding of Cross-Cultural Talks, LLC, where they promote academic success and cross-cultural understanding. Cross-Cultural Talks has introduced community and business programs to students, educators, and entrepreneurs across the world. They specialize in Speech, Tutoring, Grant Writing, College Prep, and international travel for experiential learning.
